Refrigerants and Environmental Impact

There is growing pressure to phase out HFC refrigerants (hydrofluorocarbons) due to their negative environmental impact. In line with international climate agreements, the HVAC industry will see a push toward refrigerants with lower global warming potential (GWP), such as HFOs and CO2-based systems.

As of January 1, 2025, Canada has implemented new regulations restricting the use of high Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants in certain HVAC equipment.
